Mercedes Benz Logo Mercedes-Benz Turk A.S. was established in Istanbul in 1967 under the name "Otomarsan" as a partnership between Daimler-Benz AG (36%), Mengerler Ticaret T.A.S. (32%) and Has Otomotiv (32%). The company started the production of O 302 type buses in 1968. In 1970, only three years after its foundation, the company started exports. To this date, out of total production of 24.000 buses, 6.000 buses have been exported. In 1984 the company was appointed as the general representative of Mercedes-Benz AG in Turkey and with addition of new partners started an investment for production of trucks. In 1986 the truck plant started production in Aksaray.


In November 1990 the company name was changed to Mercedes-Benz Turk A.S. parallel to expansion of the export activities and in addition to the Davutpasa plant, Mercedes-Benz Turk laid the foundation of second bus plant in Hosdere, Istanbul on June 12, 1993. This plant became operational in December 1994. The current shareholders of the company are Daimler-Benz AG (55%), Overseas Lending Corporation (15%), Mengerler Ticaret T.A.S. (15%), Koluman Holding A.S.(15%), Turk Silahli Kuvvetlerini Guclendirme Vakfi(5%) and Makina Kimya Endustrisi Kurumu (3%). The company currently produces intercity and and municipality buses at Hosdere and Davutpasa plants, medium and heavy duty trucks and Midibuses at Aksaray plant.
